I have a leak, what’s the first thing I should do?

For starters, you need to turn off the source of the water leak. If you’re not able to tell where the leak is coming from, shut off the water meter itself to ensure that no more water is flowing through your home. Clean up any water messes that may cause injuries or form mold and then call Gem Plumbing for assistance. Since you will be unable to use your water during this time, we’ll make sure to perform swift service so you can go back to living normally!

My water won’t shut off, what do I do?

If you have a running faucet that won’t shut off even when you turn the handle, you should still be able to stop the flow from your main valve. If the handle to the main valve also isn’t working, don’t be alarmed! Most valves are designed so that they can still be adjusted with pliers or a wrench. What is hydro jetting and do I need it?

At Gem Plumbing, we offer hydro jetting as an effective way to clear out any clogs that you may have in your pipe system. We recommend doing this at least once a year as preventive maintenance in avoiding unpleasant drain problems and increasing the lifespan of your pipes.

How can I confirm that I have a hidden leak?

It can be difficult to spot some leaks, but if you’re noticing a higher-than-usual water bill, there could be something going on. One way to confirm a hidden leak is to mark the numbers on your main water valve, shut it off for a few hours while refraining from using any water fixtures, and check the numbers again.
